In September 2013 we went to Georgia for two weeks.

We flew to Tbilisi from Saint Petersburg with a transfer in Minsk on Belavia - a couple of months before the planned departure there were promotions with inexpensive tickets.
We walked around Tbilisi.
From Tbilisi, we made a one-day trip to Stepantsminda to look at Mount Kazbek.
Then we took a night train to Batumi, to the sea (the map does not allow choosing a train as the means of transport). The night train was very convenient here: we could spend the night not in a hostel, and not pay for a hostel either.
In Batumi we swam and visited the botanical garden.

From Batumi we took a local train to Kutaisi (the map does not allow choosing a local train as the means of transport), where a family friend met us.
From Kutaisi we took a minibus to Borjomi and Vardzia. There is a separate story about that.
From Borjomi we went to Kakheti. There is also a separate story about Kakheti.
From Kakheti we went to Mestia. First by minibus to Tbilisi; then a night in a seated train car to Zugdidi, because there were no sleeper places left; then by taxi along the serpentine road to Mestia. There is another separate story about Mestia.
From Mestia we took a minibus to Tbilisi, and then went home to Saint Petersburg.
We liked Georgia incredibly much.
