Only two towers remain intact in the Staraya Ladoga fortress. Here is one of them.

A view of the same tower from the fortress wall.

Inside the fortress there are two churches.
The Church of Dmitry of Thessalonica; visitors are not allowed inside.

The Church of Saint George. You can go inside, but photography is not allowed. They say that photography damages the frescoes. There was, of course, nothing to say in response to such wording. The frescoes inside (or rather what remains of them) are very picturesque. And when the whole cathedral was painted, it must have been very beautiful.

There is a museum inside the fortress wall. For some reason, looking at the fortress model is many times more interesting than crawling around the fortress itself.

A plan of Staraya Ladoga.

The roof over the gates of Nikolsky Monastery.

And next to the gates lie well-fed monastery cats the size of a child.

And, of course, the fish market in Yushkovo is absolutely mandatory to visit. Mmm, what dried perch they have there.
