I had already managed to visit Stockholm before. Last time I was there for only about eight hours, between ferries. Even then I wanted to get to know the city better. I did. As will be written below, that desire did not disappear; it even grew a little stronger. The next trip, I think, will be at a more mature age and for at least a week.
\nThe plans for this trip were quite modest: see their metro (done), see Karlsson’s house (not done).
\nThis time I actively wrote on Twitter. Most likely this is how future trips will go too, because walking around with a camera at the ready is not very comfortable. And after coming home, sorting through gigabytes of photos is often too much work. Twitter lets you transmit, and preserve, a photo, a message, or a shade of mood right at the most relevant moment and then not return to it later.
\nBefore, I had this little LiveJournal for photo reports, and Flickr for photos that were a pity to throw away. Now it seems Twitter will play the LiveJournal role. This time I did not filter, so I will put all messages with photos here. And since my trip began in Helsinki, Helsinki will get into the report too.
Actually, Lena prepared for the trip. In fact, Lena organized it almost completely, for which I am very, very grateful. Thank you, Lena :)
Here is this book on the publisher’s site. It is better to order it here: bookdepository.co.uk (shipping to Russia, naturally, is not available).
I will include a few page scans here; larger images are available via the thumbnail links.
Beloved Helsinki! Sunny, blonde Finnish women everywhere :)
Vantaa Airport: no people, quiet, everything around is pretty. Free Wi-Fi too.

Passing time before the flight. Animal Tower Game. An awesome toy!

Comment: description of the toy on the manufacturer’s site.
We are flying to Stockholm on this little plane :)

Stockholm. Futuristic airport express station. The train will arrive now; I will compare it with the Domodedovo one

After my first acquaintance with Stockholm, I wanted to come again, for longer. Now I want to come for a third time, for even longer.
Stockholm is beautiful! A picture of the raised ship in the Vasa Museum.

For some reason I like Swedish women less than Finnish women.
Svenska Nubbar: left to right.

Instead of public transport in the center, it is wonderful to ride a boat. Beautiful, convenient, cheap.

Stockholm-airport express. Speed 205 km/h. Quiet. The ride takes half an hour. It is not even clear how to compare it with the Domodedovo Aeroexpress.
Arlanda airport. Nobody around, everything closed. No cafe. In places people are sleeping on benches. No free Wi-Fi. About four more hours to wait for check-in.
The most beautiful banknote is the Swedish twenty kronor. With Nils and the geese.

How wonderful: everything I wanted to write about here has its own website. So I will simply list the links.
norwegian.no — the airline whose little plane we flew from Helsinki.
arlandaexpress.com — the high-speed express from Arlanda Airport to central Stockholm.
zinkensdamm.com — the hostel where we spent the night. Overall I liked it. The only thing is that it is better not to rent bicycles there.
hermans.se — a wonderful vegetarian restaurant with a stunning view of Stockholm’s boats and islands.
kungshallen.nu — an international gallery of restaurants under one roof.
Carpets of fields over the suburbs of Helsinki. Everything is in window glare.

On the little plane we got acquainted with Swedish alcohol. Of ten little bottles, about four were rare junk, two were pleasant, and the rest were neither here nor there.

The speed of the express from Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport to the center.

The metro in Stockholm is unique. These are the escalators at Solna centrum station. “The future has arrived.”

On the embankment in central Stockholm, a man caught a fish right in front of us. He took it off the hook and released it. That is how they are, the Swedes.

Flirting with a cat.

Swedish women.

Finnish women are another matter!
Swans are not the most surprising thing. But in the parks, ducks with ducklings simply walk around without any fence. Mother, father, and ducklings. They stroll on the grass by the river among city residents relaxing on the shore.

Some kind of composition in one of Arlanda’s terminals.
